Baltimore carries the Ragin' Bulls past J M Robinson 28-26

Junor running back Brian Baltimore had over 200 yards rushing by half time in tonights Southern Piedmont 3A conference game against rival J M Robinson.  The win pushed Hickory Ridge to it first wining season in its very short 3 year history.  HRHS, 6-5 overall and 5-2 in conference place the Ragin' Bulls in a 3 way tie for second place.   Conference leader AL Brown lost the battle for the bell against Concord, 13-10.  Meanwhile North West Cabarrus was pounding Cox Mill.  The results of those 3 games, makes for an interesting tie.

Entering into Friday nights games, the league had 4 teams sitting on 4-2 in conference. Only the match up between Hickory Ridge and J M Robinson would ensure one team would be on the out side looking in.

Hickory Ridge took a 28- 14 lead in at halftime.  After 3 scoring runs by Baltimore, a tipped pass from Blake Sides to John Martinez with less than 10 seconds to play before half.  The ball appeared to be tipped by fellow Ragin' Bull Coye Steel into the hands of Martinez.

As for play offs, the decisions will be posted Sunday night on the NC High School Athletic Association web site. There remains a 3 way tie of Hickory Ridge, Concord and North West Cabarrus each having a 5-2 record.
Hickory Ridge won against NW Cabarrus, but lost to Concord.
NW Cabarrus won against Concord, so the Concord win over Kannapolis was critical for the Spiders to give them a 5th win.

Baltimore ended the night with 37 carries for a season high 354 yards.
